The current flag of Italy was first adopted by the Republic Cispadane Reggio Emilia January 7, 1797 when the Parliament of the Republic on the proposal of deputy Giuseppe Compagnoni, decreed that "it makes the universal standard or cispadan flag three colors, green, white, red and these three colors are also used in Cispadane roundel, which must be available to all.
